We’ll think about our relationship to our bodies and those of others in the context of what Scripture teaches about the way we were created as physical beings. We’ll think about topics such as habit formation, human cycles of dependency, and gender as we explore the way God is calling us to live as his people on earth. Class will begin on April 6.

Join us on Palm Sunday, April 13 at 7pm for a performance of the 20th century masterpiece by Olivier Messiaen, The Quartet for the End of Time. According to Messiaen, the piece was a musical extension of Revelation 10 where the 7th angel declared that “time would be no longer.” Its stark beauty and deep spiritual themes are full of hope and joy and it is a beautiful way to enter Holy Week. The Way of the Cross. As many of you know, our sanctuary was built by a Polish Catholic congregation. One of the distinctive features of that tradition and its architecture is the ‘Stations of the Cross’ along the walls of both sides of the sanctuary. These paintings depict Christ’s passion, from his condemnation before Pilate until he was laid in the tomb.
Each year, we host a Protestant version of ‘The Stations of the Cross,’ where we gather in the sanctuary observing each of the paintings, reading Scripture that corresponds to it and spending time in prayer and singing.

Our Good Friday service will be a Tenebrae (Latin for ‘darkness’) service. Our worship will center around Scripture readings from the hours leading up to and including the crucifixion along with singing and prayer. It is a quiet and contemplative service, and it ends in silence.
