Service Opportunities

Service is an important part of life at Covenant. Not only is it a way to serve other people and places, but it is also an important way to grow and mature in the faith. Covenant encourages attenders to use their gifts through volunteering alongside other Christians. Covenant has regular service opportunities listed in the order of worship, both within our church community and with our partner ministries, Breakthrough Urban Ministries and World Relief Chicago.

If you’d like to volunteer on Sunday mornings, Covenant is look for volunteers to help as ushers and as Common Ground volunteers.

Ushers: Greet our attenders as they arrive to service and help people find their way as they arrive. If you’d like to volunteer, contact Margret Ann Natsis.

Common Ground Volunteers: Covenant is looking for additional volunteers to help with coffee and snacks for Common Ground. Volunteers help with either setup (during the 9:00 am service) or clean up (during the 11:15 service), as well as helping during Common Ground to replenish coffee as needed. Most volunteers serve once a month. If you’d be interested, please contact Larissa Bossemeyer.

We are also looking for volunteers to help run the Gospel Justice Center at Covenant. You can find more details below:

Covenant hosts a legal aid clinic the second Saturday morning of every month, and we are growing! We are looking for folks to add to our current roster of volunteers. No legal experience or background necessary and training is provided for all roles. Specifically, we are looking for a few more people to serve as: Intake Specialists (logistical support; greeting clients and recording information in our database), Client Advocates (discerning listener/communicator who helps ensure client understands next steps, answers questions, and provides spiritual support as able/pertinent), and assist with marketing. In particular, we need a Graphic Designer to help design a Covenant-specific brochure, and a Social Media Coordinator (administration of a Covenant-specific social media account to promote the clinic). You can visit the Administer Justice website for more detail about these and all volunteer roles. Please contact Linda Gehrs with questions or for more information. The commitment at most is one Saturday morning a month, but most volunteers serve one Saturday every two months.
