This week is Holy Week, the week preceding Easter that commemorates the events that led up to Jesus’ death and resurrection. We invite you to join us for the services listed below. Additionally, you can download this harmony of Scripture readings that walk through the Gospel accounts of Holy Week. Aaron has also written a letter to the congregation inviting us into this week.
Maundy Thursday, April 9.
‘Maundy’ comes from the Latin word that means ‘mandate,’ and it refers to the new commandment Jesus gave to his disciples in the Upper Room – that we love one another as Jesus loved us (John 13.31-35). This year, you are invited to use this liturgy before or during your evening meal in celebration of the last supper Jesus Christ had with his disciples.
Good Friday Afternoon, April 10, 12 pm.
The Way of the Cross. As many of you know, our sanctuary was built by a Polish Catholic congregation. One of the distinctive features of that tradition and its architecture is the ‘Stations of the Cross’ along the walls of both sides of the sanctuary. These paintings depict Christ’s passion, from his condemnation before Pilate until he was laid in the tomb. This year, we’ll gather on Zoom and follow the Way of the cross using the liturgy we traditionally use in the sanctuary. You can find more details on our event page.
Good Friday Evening, April 10.
We will have a Good Friday service available for use in homes available at 5 pm.
Easter Sunday Morning, April 12.
We will celebrate the Resurrection of Christ together with a recorded service.
