Paul was born and raised in West Papua, New Guinea as the child of missionaries. He started college in Chicago in the spring of 1990 and began helping with the music at Covenant in 1995. In 2007, he became the Director of Worship and Music. He completed a Masters in Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in 2020. He married his wife, Lenae, at Covenant in 1998. They and their four children live in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. Paul enjoys cooking, urban gardening and carpentry.
Paul plans and oversees the liturgy of the worship services and cares for the musicians of the church. He is the founder of the Chicago Liturgists, a regional group of musicians and worship directors and pastors from around the city of Chicago who share music and resources.
