Covenant’s Children’s Ministry exists to encourage Covenant parents in the spiritual care, learning, & growth of their children. We see our programs as the tangible means by which our community participates in the covenantal vows made during each child’s baptism.
The ministry is coordinated by Renee Driver, and accomplished through the work of many faithful volunteers from our body. Children’s Ministry serves children from birth through 5th grade.

Nursery (Ages 0-3)
Children are cared for by our nursery staff, which is made up of both paid staff and volunteers from within the congregation. In the nursery, children are nurtured and encouraged in their development of basic skills. The nursery is open for all church services and during Sunday School.
Kids Praise (Ages 2-3)
Kids Praise is our Sunday morning program for two and three-year-olds. We provide a safe place for children to learn about God through play, songs, and Bible stories. We use God Loves Me, a curriculum developed specifically for this age group, which includes 52 stories from the Old and New Testaments. Kids Praise takes place during both services.
Children’s Worship (Ages 4-8)
Children’s Worship takes place during the 9:00 a.m. worship service. The worship liturgy includes praying, singing, taking an offering, and listening to God’s Word from the Old and New Testaments. Children’s Worship lessons roughly follow the church calendar and are taught Christocentrically and chronologically. Each lesson concludes with a time of exploring the real impact of Biblical events on people long ago, how the events pointed to Christ, and their significance for children today.
Most weeks include a work time in which the children can re-tell any of the Scripture stories to themselves, using the available story materials, or work on a self-initiated craft that helps them remember some aspect of a lesson.
Note: During the Summer Children's Worship takes place during both services.
Children's Sunday School (Age 4 through 5th Grade):
Children’s Sunday School begins immediately following the first (9:00 a.m. worship service. It begins with a time of fellowship that includes a snack.
The Curriculum used for Sunday School is Through the Bible for Covenant Kids, which has been developed at Covenant. It covers the Old and New Testaments in a four-year cycle. The aim of this curriculum is to build a Biblical foundation for children, which points to God’s plan for redemption through Christ as it unfolds through Scripture. Children will respond to the lessons by participating in projects to help them connect with the events and message of the Bible.
Child Safety
To insure the safety of all involved in our Children’s Ministry, every program follows the same Child Protection Policy, which outlines basic guidelines and procedures for our workers. This policy is not a legal contract, but rather a relational commitment to parents, reassuring them that we take seriously, and approach with great care, the time we spend with their child. We encourage every parent to review a copy of this policy; copies may be obtained from the Children's Ministry Coordinator.
