Covenant’s Children’s Ministry has year-round programming for children birth through grade 5. Most activities take place in the lower level of the church. If you would like additional information, please contact our Children’s Ministry Director, Sherri Bredenberg. We also have a student ministry for grades 6-12.
Infants and Toddlers
Three different nurseries are available during Sunday worship for various stages of early childhood development: infants, toddlers and 2s and 3s. Young children may have a snack and story in each service. Please alert caregivers about any allergies or likes/dislikes that will help volunteers care for your child.
As an extension of the service upstairs, Children’s Worship follows the liturgy and church calendar. Children ages 4 to 7 participate in the first ten minutes of the 9:00 am service and are then dismissed by a pastor. They meet downstairs and walk through a similar liturgy to the service upstairs. Worship continues through coloring pages, puzzles or crafts.
The catechism is a series of questions and answers that encapsulate our faith. This class is offered for ages 8 to 11 during the 9:00 am service, beginning July 16. Children are dismissed at 9:10. The class is a relational way to learn about key concepts of Christianity and how faith changes us.
Classes are offered for ages 4 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 11 during the 10:45 service. Children play, sing, listen, memorize, pray, eat and create each week. Lessons take children through the Old and New Testaments, teaching them to see Jesus throughout the Bible.
To ensure the safety of all involved in our Children’s Ministry, each of our children’s classrooms follows the same Child Protection Policy, which outlines basic guidelines and procedures for our workers. This policy is not a legal contract, but rather a relational commitment to parents, reassuring them that we take seriously, and approach with great care, the time we spend with their child. Children must be checked in and out of the Children’s Ministry for each service on Sundays. We encourage every parent to review a copy of this policy; copies may be obtained from the Children’s Ministry Director.
